“Floating Bollards” are a part of some lock structures that enables the vessel to secure itself to the bollard, and it will actually go up or down with the water level. We are still getting used to them, as we only started seeing them south of Chicago.

Getting to this Barkley Lock took all day, as we are still bucking a strong current.
