“We think we’ve got it!”

Corner of Euclid and Appleton Streets today.
As seen from the house…
Back at re-digging this ditch today.
This joint will be nearly six feet below grade at street level.
New 4” gas line (along Euclid St) is connected to a 2” lateral (Appleton St east) …

Water was making its way into the ditch and had to be pumped out.

But it is Finally connected!
The 2” lateral is seen on the right, coming into the “T” with the 4” main.

Shoring box being pulled out of the ditch.

Their equipment is loaded up for the day – right on time at 5:00pm.

As you can see, the lawn on this [Euclid] side of the house is coming along nicely.

Reportedly, they have to dig up along Appleton Street one more time [tomorrow they hope] to “tap and test” the finished joint.

They simply ran out of time today.

Looking west on Appleton: site is secured for the evening.
I have been tending to the lawn work up by the house. Hopefully the concept of a nice healthy lawn spreading + extending down to the curb again becomes a reality.
