A visit to Jekyll Harbor Marina today…

About 50 slips exist here plus there is the outside wall.
The Jekyll Island “community” is committed to a beautifully kept collection of private residences and commercial businesses.
Conservation and education about all the flora and fauna is big here too all year long.
Shelly shows off “Slip 30” which is most likely where we will be HQ’d for June through October this year.
Wide cement floating docks, extra tall concrete pilings, and fingers make it safe in most weather conditions.
Shelly is seen on the pier, already socializing with the locals. It is a year-round resort island and marina. So there were many people out getting their brisk walks in on this Friday afternoon in February. (One month to go for the Vernal Equinox!)
Slip 30 is a bit more than half the way down the main dock. The south end is shown above.
Coined as the “Best seafood restaurant on Jekyll Island” this Zackary’s Riverhouse restaurant is on-prem and overlooks the pool, hot tub, the docks, as well as the busy Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).
The nicely shaded pool isn’t open all year round, but it will help us with the heat here in SE US. The hot tube is shown below.

“31-81” is reportedly THE official lifestyle brand adopted by several merchants with shops on the island.

This shows where Jekyll Island sits in relationship to Brunswick GA, St Simons GA, and I-95.

Savannah GA is to the north. Jacksonville FL, south; both are over an hour’s drive away.

The reason for moving from Port 32 Ortega Landing is yacht insurance and hurricane seasonal restrictions. We will still have our car, and access to the facilities at Ortega Landing. I expect visits to friends, that hot tub, pool, laundry when we are in JAX for doctor and dentist appointments. We will skip the cruising all the way to Maine and/or Canada for this summer.
