New Distance Record: 86.55 miles in one day

86.55 statute miles today. 10.5 hours. That’s after a 51.6 mile day yesterday. I guess we call it “Catch up ball!”

Sat Oct 19 Carolina Beach North anchorage. mm 295.1

Sun Oct 20 Holden Beach Marina. mm 323.4

Mon Oct 21 Cricket Cove Marina, North Myrtle Beach. mm 345.

Gotta average 40 statute miles per day to make Port 32 Ortega Landing (JAX) by Jan 2.

  1. Hi Ray. It’s Sandy from the Wanderlust Too. When you were in Bel Haven you mentioned new ownership of the River Manor. Did the folks that bought the place just a year or so ago sell it? The marina and the Manor? They were such nice folks with so many plans for both. Just curious as to what happened.

    • Yes, that couple did succeed with several of their planned improvements, including the Bistro restaurant. But the story that we got is family health issues forced them to move to be closer to all that.

The Smith’s is the family who owned it for decades, and they still ran the nearby Forest River Bboatyard over the years. Henry Boyd and other local business people bought the mansion and the marina from the Smiths until he retired. With a younger generation of energetic Smiths ready to take over the manor & marina property again, it has just changed hands earlier this month (Oct 2024) back to the Smith family. It gives them an ability to handle bigger yachts than the boatyard could.
